Ervin A. Span “Erv”
Of Elm Grove. Born to Eternal Life Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 at the age of 84. Survived by his children April Span and Christopher Gerard, his granddaughter Elise Arielle Span and his brother Kenneth Spankowski. Further survived by a niece, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Harry and Anna (nee Nitecka) Spankowski and his sister Irene Rakowski. He will be especially missed by his canine friends Hannah, George and Sofie. Visitation will be held Friday, August 9 at the funeral home from 4-7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 10, at 10 AM at the Basilica of St. Josaphat, 2333 S. 6th St. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Private interment St. Adalbert Cemetery. Erv grew up on Milwaukee’s South Side and graduated from St. Vincent De Paul grade school and Pulaski High School. He was a supply sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Marquette University with a degree in journalism. Erv worked in sales for Worzalla Publishing Co. for 41 years and later owned and operated Graphic Arts and Services in Milwaukee. Erv was the founding owner of National Public Safety Information Bureau/Span Publishing, Inc. in Stevens Point and also founded the Fabulous 40’s Music Reunion Club. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Disabled American Veterans “DAV” are suggested.
Erv was the most loving and generous father and grandfather that anyone could ever wish for. He will be cherished and missed by those who held him in their hearts until the end of time.
