Florence M. Szewczykowski
(Nee Wroblewski) Passed away Monday May 20, 2013 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Ralph. Dearest mother of Ralph Jr. (Denise), Edith (John) Kaczmarek, Douglas (Lynne), David and Paul (Jackie). Grandmother of Leigh, Jason, Robyn, Douglas Jr., Abby, Jordan, Andrew, Kelly and Lauren. Great-grandmother of Emilyn and Henry. Sister of Carolyn (Leon) Travanti and the late Arthur Wroblewski. Further survived by other relatives and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, S. 41st St. & W. Oklahoma Ave., Friday May 24 at 10 AM, with visitation at the Church from 9 AM until the time of Mass. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Florence was born on March 9, 1926, the daughter of Anton Wroblewski and Mamie Urowski. She worked at “Leons” custard stand the first summer that it opened. She attended Pulaski High School in Milwaukee where she met Ralph Szewczykowski, her future husband. They both played in the school band. During World War II she was a Civil Defense Block Coordinator and worked at Phoenix Hosiery. She married Ralph on August 2, 1947 and they built a home near S. 49th and Cleveland Ave. in Milwaukee. She was a part owner of the former Jackson Park Super Service/South End Tavern in Milwaukee and Hales Corners Bowling Center in Hales Corners. Florence worked alongside Ralph for many years as Assistant Manager at Hales Corners Bowl. She also managed the twilight years of South End Tavern. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Blessed Sacrament Christian Women, United Seniors of Wisconsin, Jackson Park Business Association, Lake Beulah Protective and Improvement Association, a City of Milwaukee Election Poll Worker, The Democratic Party of Wisconsin and a long time Milwaukee resident and summer resident of Lake Beulah in East Troy, Wisconsin. Florence loved traveling, sewing, cooking and baking, gardening and flowers, old movies and enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She always enjoyed getting a gardenia corsage on every Wedding Anniversary.
