Rudolph & Geraldine Royten died on March 21, 2017 within the same hour. Rudolph was born June 21, 1928 to the late John and Cecelia Rojten. Dear brother of the late Gilbert (Marion) Royten. Geraldine was born March 25, 1928 to the late Bernard and Eugenia Smerlinski. Dear sister of the late Vivian (Ray) Cerzan, Eunice (the late Rocky) Fragosso and Cynthia Smerlinski.
High school sweethearts, Rudy and Gerrie married 66 years ago and remained devoted to one another the rest of their lives. You cannot tell the story of one without the other. So it is fitting that they leave this world together.
Rudy touched the lives of many as a teacher and coach. He enjoyed teaching history at Juneau and later at Milwaukee Hamilton High School and shared his passion for sports as a track and football coach at both schools for many years. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Coaches Football Hall of Fame in 2009.
Gerrie was one who put her family first and foremost. She was always there to lend a guiding hand to her children. She was a devoted homemaker and her meals at family gatherings became especially anticipated traditions.
They cherished home and family and raised three children, Robin (Mary), Jeffrey (Sandy)and Victoria (Kevin) Haut. They welcomed grandchildren, Ryan (Shauna), Matthew (Kelly), Christopher, Adam, Jaime (James), Tyler, Caroline and Ashley and great-grandchildren Ryan Jr., Ramsey, Ryshaun, Savannah, Taylor George, Riley, Tenley and Archer. They are so loved and will be deeply missed and never forgotten by family and dear friends.
Combined Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, 8500 W. Cold Spring Rd., Monday, March 27, 2017 at 11 AM, with visitation at the Church from 9:30 AM until time of Mass. Entombment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staffs at Linden Ridge, Mukwonago and AngelsGrace Hospice for their kind and compassionate care given to Rudy and Gerrie.
