(Nee Piotrowski) Passed away October 25, 2012 at the age of 87. Shirley was born on March 26, 1925 to John and Agnes (nee Kulinski) Piotrowski in Milwaukee. She was happily joined in marriage to Robert “Bob” Frank Nowakowski on October 2, 1948. Robert and her sisters Evelyn and Alice preceded Shirley in death. Shirley is survived by her children Christine Skinner, Nancy Schwind and Jim Nowakowski; grandchildren Erin (Breck) Johnson, Sarah (fiancé Brett Kawaguchi) and Alexander Schwind; great- granchildren Adelie and Quinn Johnson, and Mirabel Kawaguchi. She is also survived by her beloved sister Audrey (Jerome) Ryshke, special nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Shirley’s life long career was spent working for Ken Cook Publishing Co. in Milwaukee, as an executive secretary and officer, from its inception in 1944 until her retirement in 1985. She enjoyed her career immensely. Shirley was an avid antique collector and spent many hours with dear friends looking for “old treasures”. She was very energetic and enjoyed planning social activities and celebrations throughout her life for her family and friends. Shirley touched many lives while she was with us, and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
