Elaine B. Kujawa

Elaine B. Kujawa

On April 24, 2024, Elaine B. Kujawa died peacefully at age 91 after a brief illness. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. Elaine lived a good long life filled with great adventures, great friends, and great times with family. She loved her morning crossword puzzles, watching The View, streaming Mass on Sundays, and enjoyed watching a mix of comedies and movie musicals every Sunday afternoon. In recent years, her craft of choice was embroidery for towels, tablecloths, and blankets and was so happy to gift her many, many projects to everyone she knew.

Elaine worked for many years as a baker in the Greenfield School District's lunch program and loved baking and decorating cakes for special occasions. She was an artistic person and was a skilled painter. She was a great traveler and traveled across Europe on her own and to England and Scotland with her daughters. She continued traveling in America on short trips with her husband Alex and her son Steve.

Music was always a part of Elaine’s life and even as a small child enjoyed choir and singing lessons. Elaine was an active soprano in several choirs over the years at St. Alphonsus and Blessed Sacrament Churches, as well as the Wilson Park Senior Choir – The Wilsonaires and the After Dinner Singers. Her favorite movie musical was The Phantom of the Opera and loved the opportunity to sing along with the subtitles!

Elaine is survived by her children, Sheryl Kujawa-Holbrook (Paul Holbrook), Kathryn, and Steven; her granddaughter, Rachel Elaine Anne Holbrook; her niece and goddaughter, Terri Cohen; and three nephews, Craig Enders, Todd Enders, and Dirk Huibregtse. She was predeceased by her husband, Alex; her parents, John and Edna Dirks; and her siblings, Melvin Dirks, Stanley Dirks, and Darlene Huibregtse. Elaine was also special friend and Grandma for many years to Lindsay Welter and the Lemmer family- The 5 J’s: John, Jake, Jeffrey, Jodi, and Jessi.

Visitation hours are from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3100 S. 41st Street, Milwaukee, 53215, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed and can be viewed on Blessed Sacrament's website at: https://blessedsacramentmke.org/parish. Private burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, WI. Because Elaine enjoyed gardening and receiving flowers, the family requests flowers, plants or bulbs to be transplanted outdoors in memory of Elaine. Please consider Stein’s Garden Center locations for local visitors or Bel-Aire Floral Shop in West Allis, WI (414.771.7630) has many combination floral pieces.
