Carol J. Ciganek

Carol Jean (nee Drichta) Ciganek, age 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024, at Community Hospice & Palliative Care in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by her longtime friend Minnie. Born on September 4th, 1944 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Edward and Isabel Drichta. Carol was a devoted wife and faithful member of the Catholic Church.


She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Stephen. She is also lovingly remembered by her dearest friend Minnie Hill with whom she shared over 42 years of friendship. Their bond was like that of sisters and remained close throughout the ups and downs of life. She is also survived by her nieces Colleen Topple and Dawn Dudenhoefer, nephews Craig Degnan and Douglas Degnan, cousins Jim and Bonnie Clarey and the rest of the Clarey family, and numerous other cousins; all of whom held a special place in her heart.


Carol attended Notre Dame High School in Milwaukee and graduated with the Class of 1962.


Carol worked for 35 years as a Clerk/Customer Service at the United States Postal Service, where she was known for her warm smile, helpful demeanor, and unwavering dedication to serving her community. Her kindness and professionalism made her beloved by both coworkers and customers alike. Carol took pride in helping others and formed lasting relationships with many of the people she served.


Carol enjoyed crossword puzzles, shopping and traveling.


Outside of work, Carol enjoyed life's simple pleasures, chocolate being one of her favorites. Carol's sweet tooth was well-known to her family and friends, bringing a bit of joy to everyday moments.


A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 21st, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Pkwy., Palm Coast, FL 32164, with visitation beginning at 12:30 PM.


A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 26th, 2024, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3100 S. 41st St., Milwaukee, WI 53215, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.


Interment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Flagler County, Florida, Humane Society in her memory.


Please pray for the repose of her soul. Carol's love, faith and generosity will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace.
