Jeanne C. Jankiewicz

Jeanne C. Jankiewicz

Jeanne was born and lived her entire life on the South Side of Milwaukee. She was the daughter of Mrytle and Adolf Hanneman. Jeanne’s close family included her beloved sister Nancy and their late brother Jim.

Jeanne made many enduring friendships growing up which lasted throughout her lifetime. The foremost was the love of her life and husband of 63 years, Donald Allen. In their devoted family, Jeanne and Don had four children: Jeffrey, Donald Jay, Jodie (deceased), and Jim. This immediate family expanded to include Jodie’s husband Wayne, their children Wendy and Adam, their spouses Dave and Laurel, along with great-grandchildren Lucy, Clara Jean, Joseph, and Henry, Jim’s wife Michelle, Donald Jay’s children Donald Jr., Regina and Veronica, Regina’s spouse Brett and great-grandsons Gavin and Christian, Veronica’s spouse Dave, Jeff’s son Todd his spouse Heather and great-grandson William.

As a daughter of a WWI and WWII Veteran who was also a Milwaukee Police officer, Jeanne was instilled with a strong respect and sense of duty to family, community and country. After graduating from South Division High School, Jeanne worked at International Harvester and her Aunt Nina’s flower shop until she committed to raising her family. She continued to work in flower shops part-time throughout her life.

Jeanne followed the Lutheran Faith. As an Inspirational Mother figure, she gave everything for her household and family. This included being a tutor, playground organizer, Cub Scout Den Mother, librarian, disciplinarian and much more.

Jeanne had a deep interest in politics and followed it closely throughout her life. She was an insistent voter that took her civic responsibilities very seriously.

Jeanne had a deep love of travelling with her husband Don. She orchestrated family camping trips and travelled the country on road trips as the navigator. She visited places her family lived around the country and world. She was proud to organize and attend along with her family the Montreal Expo 67, World’s Fair. She was personally curious and encouraged her family to experience and learn about the world.

Another very memorable trip was her 50th Wedding Anniversary cruise to Alaska. Don and Jeanne also enjoyed their retirement at their cottage on Lake of the Falls near Mercer, Wisconsin.

Jeanne was devoted to her husband Don who referred to her as a “Live Wire.” When asked why, Jeanne replied with a twinkle in her eye, maybe it is because he was an "Electrician" and left the rest to other's imagination.

Jeanne has now passed to be with the Lord, joining her husband Don and daughter Jodie. Her guidance, feisty spirit and overall joyful approach to life will be remembered fondly and missed by all.

The family would like to give special thanks to The Village at Manor Park Maplewood for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be held at Jackson Park Lutheran Church, 4535 W. Oklahoma Ave., Milwaukee, on Thursday, December 19th, 2024 at 9 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM. Future interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
