John A. Pankowski

John A. Pankowski

Passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, 2020, age 76 years, formerly of Wind Lake, WI. Dearest father of Stefan, Tom and Marisa (Andrew). Loving grandfather of Ava, Addison, Avett and Mae (all cute as a button!) Fond brother of Joseph, Richard (Linda Canales) and Elizabeth Trendel (Dennis). Dearest friend of former wife, Joan. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends he met along the way. John was a Sgt. in the U.S. Army who was stationed in Anchorage, AK during the start of the Vietnam War and retired after 30 years from Allen-Bradley Company in Milwaukee.

John was an avid reader and left us with many, many books of every subject imaginable, most of which read by him and some even read twice!  He loved getting up at the crack of dawn every Sunday morning to get to 7 Mile Fair so he could find the best bargains before anyone else. He was a collector through and through and his many curiosities evoke memories from the past.

John was a true gentleman and treated everyone with, and taught us, courtesy and respect (no hats at the table!) He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help out someone in need, at times giving more than he could spare. He had a great sense of humor and offered cute little anecdotes whenever they came to mind, always prompting a hearty laugh or smile. He loved fresh polish sausage with sauerkraut, hamburgers and reubens, and we surely will miss his famous cucumbers and sour cream on every holiday. Most of all, he was a good, kind man, one of the nicest men in the world, and he will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 3-5 PM at the Bruskiewitz Funeral Home. Due to Covid restrictions, masks are required.
