Kevin D. Kavanaugh

June 21, 1950 – September 8, 2023

Kevin D. Kavanaugh passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 8, 2023 in Milwaukee, WI. Beloved husband to Candy, loving dad to Samantha, Colleen, and David. Predeceased by his parents, David and Catherine (Fahey) Kavanaugh and favorite Aunt, Irene Fahey.

Born on June 21, 1950 in Chicago, IL. Kevin was an avid and devoted Notre Dame Football fan. In his childhood, he and his father would take the train from Chicago to South Bend, IN to attend games. He never lost his love and devotion for the Fighting Irish.

After graduating high school, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War with honor and distinction. Kevin was a past Region and Department Commander and lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and was actively involved in numerous other Veteran organizations. Kevin always went above and beyond the call of duty and never hesitated to lend a helping hand or a compassionate ear. In 2017 Kevin, accompanied by his daughter Samantha as his guardian, flew to Washington D.C. on the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight out of Milwaukee, WI.

He retired from the Milwaukee VA Medical Center. In his retirement years he enjoyed gardening; from vegetables to flowers, he had quite the green thumb. On a warm sunny day, you could find Kevin and his dog Cooper outside enjoying the rays and watching over the garden.

Kevin’s family would like to recognize and express their sincere gratitude to the Milwaukee VA Medical Center for all of their kind and compassionate care.

Visitation at the Bruskiewitz Funeral Home on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 9-11 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM.

Interment Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, WI.
