Milania Stupnyckyj (nee Wojnarowski), a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully joined her husband Roman and daughter Elizabeth on Saturday, January 6, 2024. Born in Siemuszowa, Poland, she embarked on a remarkable journey, leaving her homeland at 13 to stay with family in Germany. A few years later, she traveled to England where she met Roman, married, and started a family. In 1953, they made their way by ship to Canada to be with her late brother Joseph, eventually settling in Milwaukee in 1958 to be close to her late sister Sophia Chamulak. A devoted mother to Maria (Bruce) Weimer, Michael (Dawn) Stupnyckyj, and Lydia (Roman) Pyskir, Milania was cherished by her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She leaves behind sisters Julia Jaszcyszyn, Slawka Gnatowski (Poland), and Maria Grobarchik (Milwaukee), along with nieces and nephews in Poland and the USA. Milania's life was marked by resilience and dedication. As a seamstress at Junior House, Strong’s, where she tailored for the police and iconic sports teams like the Milwaukee Bucks and Brewers, she, alongside her husband, continued their craft at Goldmann’s on Mitchell Street even after they retired. Active in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Milania was a pillar in the Ukrainian community. Her culinary skills, showcased in the preparation of Varenyky, Holubtsi, Borscht, Paska, and Strushla, were legendary, shared generously with everyone, especially during church events until the age of 91. Her commitment to Ukrainian traditions extended beyond her kitchen, encompassing her involvement in the Ukrainian Women’s Committee and the Ukrainian American Youth Association. Milania was always cooking, baking, sewing costumes, working at the Holiday Folk Fair, and countless church dinners. While vacationing at the Ukrainian Youth Camp in Baraboo, WI, she made Varenyky & donuts for everyone. Milania's passion for her heritage resonated in every aspect of her life. The last two years were spent at Layton Terrace Memory Care, where she found joy in singing Ukrainian songs from her past, the visits of pets, and telling stories to the delight of residents and staff. Milania's sense of humor remained unwavering, as she continued to greet residents with “Bon Appétit” and wonder why everyone is so old. Leonard H. Pawelski, Jr. 82, passed away on December 13, 2023. Leonard (“Len”) was born to Leonard and Marguerite (Budney) Pawelski in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 28, 1941. On July 6, 1963, Leonard married Kathleen (“Kathy”) Pace. Len and Kathy were married during Len’s leave from serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. He served from 1961-1965, stationed both at Westover Air Base in Chicopee, Massachusetts and near Athens, Greece. He was honorably discharged in 1965 and rejoined Kathy in Milwaukee. Leonard earned an associate’s degree from UW-Milwaukee in Business Administration. After which he held various positions in import/export administration for various companies in the Milwaukee area. Far more important than what he did to pay the bills, was the satisfaction he gained from building and creating—from his early days helping his father build houses in the Bay View and Town of Lake areas of Milwaukee to his lifelong love of music, fishing, and collecting. Len was a keen observer and lover of beauty in the world, a trait that led him to enthusiastically take up painting later in life. He was a born entertainer. From an early age, playing the accordion, through playing piano in many bands well into his middle years, music was an endless joy, fascination and obsession for him. So much so that starting in 2011 through 2023, he could be found at Aurora West Allis Medical Center playing piano and collecting tips which he donated to the hospital. Over the years, he raised thousands of dollars for various charitable causes. Len was equally enamored with the outdoors. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed countless hours out on Carrol Lake in the Minocqua area where the fish mostly succeeded in avoiding him. Another enduring obsession was stamp collecting. Once exiting the manufacturing sector, he worked at various stamp stores, valuing and buying and selling collections. He spent hours sifting for gold in endless piles of stamps, always on the treasure hunt for an elusive example in hopes of adding to one of his formidable personal collections. Later in life, he began painting, lining the walls of his and Kathy’s home with his latest creations—landscapes, city scenes, or abstract shapes, he would eye them from different sides of the room and excitedly share them with visitors. After a blowout celebration for their 50th Anniversary in 2013, gathering friends and relatives from near and far, Len and Kathy celebrated their 60th Anniversary on July 6, 2023 as a close family affair with pizza at their favorite place. One of the best parts about hanging out with Len and Kathy was to see how they cracked each other up over the silliest things. His distinctive laughter was contagious, and family gatherings were filled with lots of smiles. Leonard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathy, who might be the only person to ever understand Len’s sense of humor. Together they created a fun-loving family and friend community across the decades. He is also survived by his two children: his daughter Cheryl (Audrey Bilger) Pawelski, and his son Glen (Sarah Peterson) Pawelski, of Madison, WI. He also leaves behind two grandsons, Loren Pawelski of Portland, OR, and Gilbert Pawelski of Madison, WI along with nieces, nephews, and many friends. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Leonard, and his brother Dennis and sister Dianne (Karl) Horvat. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Bruskiewitz Funeral Home on Monday, January 8th, 2024 from 10 AM - 12 PM. Interment will follow at 1 PM at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Leonard’s honor can be made to the charity of your choice.

It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of our caring sister and beloved aunt Merry Virginia Hinz “ Little Merry”, on November 18th, 2023 at the age of 69 years young. She had a loving partner of 39 years, Paul Proell Jr., who preceded her in death on July 21st, 2020. Both are survived by their fur baby Saphira. Merry was born in Marion, Indiana on November 3rd, 1954 to Frank & Marilouise (nee Sigler) Hinz, the youngest of 5 children. In her young adolescent years, she traveled through the United States with her siblings during her father Frank’s military career. The family shared many happy memories and stories for years on their adventures and moved from one location to another during this time. Later after her dad's retirement from the miltary, the family returned to their roots in Milwaukee, WI. She attended and graduated from South Division High School in 1974 and worked throughout her life in various positions. Merry’s love of animals was very passionate. She spoiled her furbabies and she rescued a few dogs over her lifetime. She loved attending family gatherings, fun and filled with love, no matter the event. Merry would always help others in any way she could, watching her nieces and nephews and friend's children (LOL, no diapers though). You could count on her to babysit animals when family & friends were on vacation. She would sit with family members, watching wrestling or old TV shows or when others needed respite time. In her spare time, Merry loved to be social, going to casinos and dining out, but especially enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends doing things she loved, Duck Pin Bowling or playing Bingo. Merry was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for many years. She enjoyed calling people on their birthday and singing Happy Birthday to them and she also delivered all the family milestones/event information. Preceded in death by her parents Frank & Marilouise Hinz, sister Lois Hinz and brother Laurence Hinz.
